Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Colon
Marielle and Josh had a meet cute that was made for a movie. When Josh sat next to her on a train, Marielle couldn’t help but notice the book he was reading, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norell, because it’s one of her all-time favorites. She leaned over and said, “That’s a really good book.” The rest, as they say, is history.
One day, he met her for lunch at the library, which happens to be her workplace (and a place they both love as a librarian and a writer). Cranky from hunger, the popped question came as quite a surprise – but a welcome one!
Their first trip to New Orleans was one Halloween with some friends – it was love at first.
“But what really sealed the deal was we were on a balcony having alligator bites when we saw a wedding second line parade going down the street. All the bystanders were cheering, and the entire wedding party was out having fun supporting this beautiful bride and groom at the helm. I did not even know such a thing existed. So when considering locations later on, I knew I wanted a destination wedding, and I kept coming back to that Bride and Groom partying down the street in this colorful and beautiful city.”
Choosing the perfect venue can be daunting. Fortunately Marielle already had vision of what she wanted for her wedding.
“I wanted a place for party and a place to relax, which Maison Dupuy had with the fountain area and the pool area. It was candlelight for the ceremony and then hanging lights for the party, to make the distinction. And I really wanted authentic food, and the menu was fantastic. So many people were introduced to grits and have not stopped eating it since.”
The favorite part of her perfect day: spending it with the ones she loved (and being in New Orleans parading through the French Quarter!)
Congratulations, Mr. & Mrs. Josh Colon!
